New for the 2012 Season Granite City JVB Members ages 14-16 will have an opportunity to try out for a post season Elite team. Tryouts will be held mid season with the intent of participating in The AAU National Volleyball Tournament in Orlando FL in June of 2012. The Age Division to be played will be determined after tryouts. Athletes who desire a higher level of competition are encouraged to try out, but they must be members of an existing GCJVB team at the time. There will be an additional membership fee of approximately $500.00 but the fee will ultimately be based on actual expenses, number of additional tournaments and travel selections. Financial Obligations 12's Team There will be tryouts held on November 20th at SCSU's Halenbeck Hall for any 12 & under player wanting to be part of a complete 2012 GCJOVB season. A team will be formed pending enough interest in participating at this age level. Membership fee is $400 This is payable in four installments. The first payment of $100 is due at the time of tryouts (this is refundable if the player does not make the team) The final 3 postdated payments of $100.00 each are due at the Parent/Player meeting Program starts January 3rd and runs into April. Team will compete a total of 7 play dates or tournaments and practice 2 times a week. Our partnership with St Cloud Recreation is back for the 2012 Season!!!! Granite City Volleyball and St. Cloud Recreation's Youth Recreational Volleyball Program will once again partner to offer an opportunity for players age 12 and under. The purpose is to promote the sport in an affordable way to the younger player. The 2012 season will begin with the Youth Program meeting once a week at Whitney Recreation Center Times will be announced on the Rec's Web Site. www.ci.stcloud.mn.us Each Session be divided into one part instructional and one part league play. All players will then have an opportunity to continue the season as a Granite City 12's team. The teams will play 3 weekend tournaments locally and practice one night a week through Mid April. Watch the web site for the start of registration. You may register online at www.ci.stcloud.mn.us or in person at the Whitney Recreation Center. Cost for the Granite City Juniors program is $150 Players who participated in the St. Cloud Recreation Youth Volleyball Program will receive a $25 deduction from the $150.00 fee. 13's Team Membership fee is $400. Season The Granite City Juniors Volleyball season is from January 2012 until April/May 2012 for the 14's, 15's, 16's, 17's, and 18's teams. The 12's and 13's teams will have a shorter season starting January 2012 until March/April 2012. Tournaments are held on weekends with usually two scheduled per month. Practices Practice will be held one night during the week (based on coach and team decision) and Sundays of non-tournament weekends. Times for practices will be worked out between the players and coaches. Important The Granite City Juniors Volleyball Club is designed for the player who is willing to work hard to improve their skill. Please note that this a five-month commitment. School sports/activities do come first (being a team member of a school sport and not a spectator). Please check your schedules and make sure that this opportunity is right for you. If you're "over involved" this may not be the right commitment for you.
